Rebreather Courses

There are five progressive training levels for the Voyager rebreather. We offer all recreational levels. Each level requires an upgrade to the system and a specific training course. Experience at all levels is necessary in order to be eligible for the next level of training. Our instructors are approved by IATA (SCR and CCR) and PADI (SCR) to certify divers on the Voyager rebreather system.
Courses are available in English  French  Dutch  and German

REB 1 – Rebreather Experience Basic 1

Overview
This experience program (not a certification course) provides the certified diver with minimum training and experience and to give an orientation to the Voyager rebreather.

It consists of basic theory and a 45 minute dive on the Voyager rebreather in semi-closed mode using a 40% Nitrox mix to a maximum depth of 15 metres/50 feet.

This program is completed in one day and is ideal for anyone who wants to try out a rebreather without undertaking the full course.

Prerequisites for REB 1: to enrol on the Voyager Rebreather Experience Program divers must be at least 18 years-old prior to the start date of the course, be a certified PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent and  Nitrox Diver and have at least 30 logged dives.

REB 2 – Rebreather Experience Basic 2

Overview
This experience program (not a certification course) provides the certified diver with minimum training and experience and gives a more complete orientation on the Voyager rebreather. This program can be credited towards the Voyager SCR course.

It consists of basic theory and two 45 minute dives on the Voyager rebreather in semi-closed mode using a 40% Nitrox mix to a maximum depth of 18 metres/60 feet.

This program is completed in one and a half days and is ideal for anyone who wants to try out a rebreather without undertaking the full course.

Prerequisites for REB 2: to enrol on the Voyager Rebreather Experience Program divers must be at least 18 years-old prior to the start date of the course, be a certified PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent and  Nitrox Diver and have at least 30 logged dives.

SCR VOYAGER REC DIVER

Overview
This course provides the training you need to begin diving with the Voyager in semi-closed configuration to a depth of 30 metres/100 feet with a no-stop dive profile. Course content includes basic rebreather theory (physics and physiology), operational procedures, Voyager modular configurations, maintenance and emergency procedures.

Prerequisites for SCR: to enrol on the Voyager Rebreather SCR course divers must be at least 18 years-old prior to the start date of the course, be a certified PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent and  Nitrox Diver and have at least 30 logged dives.
The material taught in a basic Nitrox course is absolutely essential to understanding and using a rebreather system. All students are required to complete an entry-level assessment to gauge your understanding prior to starting the SCR course.

System Configuration: s
emi-closed circuit, fixed fraction pre-set Nitrox flow prior to the dive; electronic monitoring of inhaled mix using an oxygen analyser and/or dive computer equipped with oxygen sensor.

Maximum Operating Limit:
all Nitrox mixes, maximum depth of 30 metres/100 feet within the no-decompression time limit.

Course Duration:
 Approximately 4 days
                                 14 hours of theory
                                  2 confined water sessions
6 open water dives (course standards require 3 dives with a total bottom time of at least 120 minutes, we provide extra experience by conducting 6 training dives)

CCR VOYAGER REC DIVER

Prerequisites for CCR:
Voyager SCR certification with at least 15 logged SCR dives

System Configuration:
closed-circuit with the option of adjusting oxygen partial pressure during the dive; one tank for oxygen and one for diluent (air), electronic monitoring of inhaled mix using an oxygen analyser and/or dive computer equipped with three oxygen sensors.

Maximum Operating Limit:
multiple fraction mix containing nitrogen-oxygen (Nitrox), maximum operating partial pressure of 1.2 bar, mechanical and manual controls; maximum depth of 40 metres/132 feet within the no-decompression time limit.

Course Duration:
 Approximately 4 days
                                8 hours of theory
                                1 confined water session
6 open water dives (course standards require 3 dives with a total bottom time of at least 120 minutes, we provide extra experience by conducting 6 training dives)

Students should bring the following:
  • Certification cards and logbooks
  • Dive equipment (mask, snorkel, fins and wetsuit)
  • Nitrox compatible dive computer (preferably wrist-mounted)
  • Medical statement no older than 3 months signed by a physician (download)

Preparation:

  • Review your Nitrox student manual. Basic Nitrox theory as taught in your Nitrox course is essential to understanding and using a rebreather.
